The champagne corks were popping on Friday 21st June as Wirral celebrated the return of its prestigious Business Awards.
The glittering show was staged at New Brighton Floral Pavilion where over 400 leaders, innovators and rising stars from the region’s business community were lauded and applauded.
We have been proudly working in partnership with Wirral Chamber of Commerce for many years now with our first Wirral Business Awards (WBA) show was way back in 2008. However, this year was very special as we took on the tasks of both show production and full event management.

The Mills Media Creative team commenced production last October and nine months of hard work finally came to fruition last Friday with a bigger, bolder and brighter show than ever before.
Hosted by BBC Breakfast and Mt Kilimanjaro conqueror Dan Walker, the Wirral Business Awards recognise leading industry figures across a diversity of sectors.
Thirteen awards were handed out on the night and some of the successful organisations to receive winning recognition included PharmaPac, Caffe Cream, Claire House Children’s Hospice and The Contact Company.
Speaking about the award winners, Paula Basnett, CEO of Wirral Chamber of Commerce, said,
“This is an amazing night when the very best businesses in the region come together to celebrate their success and achievements. This year’s Awards have welcomed a record number of entries from a rich diversity of sectors; a diversity that has gained Wirral a reputation of excellence both nationally and internationally.”
WBA 2019 is another example of how our live event projects regularly call upon the full production team here at Mills. Branding design, scriptwriting, photography of every nominee and the creation of several sponsor films, were all produced in-house whilst the show itself included a dazzling lighting design, creative multi-camera mixing and a pumping PA across the Floral Pavilion’s auditorium.

The new format of the event presented guests not with a run-of-the-mill dinner, but with a specially selected range of delicious international street foods served in the Panoramic, Plaza and Blue Lounges. And at the OSCAR style award ceremony, guests relished a host of treats in their goody bags before being blown away by an amazing opening dance routine courtesy of Feeding the Fish.

Our MD Andrew Mills said,
“I hope our event made all those who attended very proud to be part of a vibrant and exciting business community.”
Andrew added,
“Dan Walker was an extremely popular host, perfectly blending his warmth and professionalism with wit and just the right amount of mockery! We are already talking about next year’s show and looking at suitable dates. Topping this year will be difficult but I’m confident that our team will deliver in 2020.”

To complete a fantastic evening, a special raffle was held featuring some excellent prizes kindly donated by Andrew Collinge, Arriva NW and Royal Liverpool Golf Club, amongst many others. Over £1,100 was raised for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity – our chosen charity for 2019 – and a very worthwhile cause.
Here’s a list of all winners – congratulations to everyone!
